The Indian pharmaceutical company Hetero will produce the Russian corona vaccine Sputnik V. More than 100 million doses per year are expected to be made in India, the vaccine’s developer reports.
Mass production should start early next year, Russian investment fund RDIF said. That fund has been marketing the vaccine since its release and has also arranged for it to be produced in Brazil.
The latest trials of the vaccine are still underway in India and are likely to be completed in March next year. If the results are right, the vaccine can be put into production.
Russia and India are two of the countries most affected by the coronavirus. More than 2 million corona cases have been diagnosed in Russia, and the number of infections in India is over 9 million.
The recorded death toll in Russia is currently 38,062 and in India above 135,000.
