When a patient visits the dentist on a scheduled dental appointment, the dentist will most probably look at the person’s throat, tongue, mouth, and gums. The state of a person’s teeth can be assessed by checking for loose teeth, looking for signs of gum disease, examining the gums, checking your bite, examining your tongue, looking for tooth decay visual evidence, checking for broken teeth, checking for damaged fillings, looking for changes in the gums covering teeth, looking at the tissues inside of your mouth, taking x-rays, checking the contact between your teeth and assessing any dental appliance you have.

All these examinations, directly and indirectly, involve the use of dental equipment. The quality of dental equipment is very important in order to deliver quality care service to patients. If we take a look in the market, there are a variety of dental equipment suppliers offering high-quality products at reasonable prices.

However, considering the sensitivity of dental treatment, equipment must be procured from high-end suppliers who are reliable and trusted in the dental care market. In order to understand the dynamics of dental equipment, we need to go into what comes under the broad definition of dental equipment. To elaborate, dental equipment refers to the tools used by dental professionals to offer dental care services.

This includes the tools to remove, restore, treat, manipulate or examine the teeth and the adjacent oral structures. The first type of dental equipment is examination instruments which enable the manipulation of tissue by dental care professionals for enhanced visual access while dental examination or treatment.

Dental examination instruments include the following:

• Mirrors used by a dental auxiliary or dental professional to see the mirror image of teeth in places which visibility is impossible or difficult. In addition, mirrors are used for reflecting light and indirect vision.
• Probes include a straight probe, perodental probe and dental explorer.
• Retractors include lip retractor, tongue retractor, check retractor, dental mirror and mouth prop.

There are two types of Dental Equipment:

To add on, dental equipment can be divided into large dental equipment and small dental equipment. Large dental equipment is needed for the smooth treatment of dental issues. Large dental equipment can be seen in a dentist’s office/room as soon as a patient enters. This includes dental implant machine, disinfectant, and sterilization machines, and teeth whitening machines, dental X Rays machine, dental air compressors, dental unit, dental intraoral camera, and dental ultrasonic cleaner, dental office furniture and led dental lights.

On the other hand, small dental equipment is needed to perform specialized dental tasks most efficiently. This includes laser engraving machine, pulse dosimeter machine, dental accessories, dental air-water syringe, blood pressure monitor, dental air polisher, root canal equipment, dental micro motor, and dental curing light, dental ultrasonic scalar, and dental handpieces.

All in all, there is a variety of dental equipment used by dental professionals to offer quality dental care services to patients. The quality of dental care is directly dependent on the reliability of dental equipment; therefore, one must never compromise in this domain.
