A stranger opened fire in the Ukrainian capital of the politician and his bodyguard, when leaving a hotel. The bodyguard was wounded.
Voronenkov was controversial in Russia. He was suspected of fraud and went to Ukraine last year.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko the attack on Voronenkov called an “act of Russian state terrorism ‘.
