Russian soldiers stormed a settlement southwest of Lischansk. It concerns the village of Vovchoyarivka, the army command of Ukraine reported.
The Russian military is standing on the southern edge of the strategically important city of Lischansk in eastern Ukraine. It is one of the last places in the Luhansk region that is still in Ukrainian hands.
Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are still in Lischansk, trying to stop the Russians. Russia is bombarding the city with artillery and missiles. Infantry troops try to penetrate the city.
According to Ukraine, Russia is also trying to get hold of an important road between Lischansk and the city of Bachmoet. Bachmoet is located southwest of Lischansk and Severodonetsk, which has since been completely conquered by the Russians.
