The Chinese Xiaomi has been the market leader in Europe in the field of smartphones since the second quarter of this year. This is according to a recently published study by Strategy Analytics.

According to the market researcher, the smartphone brand has a market share of 25 percent of all mobile phones shipped to Europe, which is more than any other manufacturer. What gives this performance extra shine is that the smartphone market grew: this year, 14 percent more devices were sold than in the same period last year.

In 2020, smartphone sales in Europe fell sharply due to the impact of the corona pandemic. However, the industry’s recovery was driven by the “ongoing economic recovery, healthy consumer demand and competitive prices of 5G smartphones,” Xiaomi said.

“With nearly 13 million smartphones sold in Europe, we have achieved our goal of becoming number one,” said Ou Wen, General Manager of Xiaomi Western Europe. He added that the success is largely due to the brand loyalty of “the Xiaomi community”.
