Windows 11 Would be Released in October

According to Microsoft, Windows 11 will be released at the end of this year. However, an Intel document reveals that that could be as early as October.

With the announcement of Windows 11 at the beginning of this summer, Microsoft said that the new operating system would be on the market at the end of this year. Meanwhile, the first Windows 11 Insider Preview Build has also been released in the Beta Channel.

But the final version of ‘end of this year’ could already be released in October or November. Release notes of a graphics driver from Intel reveal that they support Windows 11 and that the system will be available starting with the ‘October 2021 Update (21H2)’. The document itself has been amended in the meantime and no longer contains the reference.

At the same time Microsoft itself urging hardware manufacturers to submit their drivers by the third week of September if they want to be ready when Windows 11 starts. That also indicates that the new Windows would already appear at the end of October or early November.

However, the date remains indicative. Microsoft has in the past often released an update that refers to a specific month only later for technical reasons. But it does indicate that the ambition is to have Windows 11 ready a little earlier than the original timing.

That timing is not illogical because it also offers opportunities for PC manufacturers. If Microsoft has Windows 11 ready by then, that will also give those players some margin to equip their devices with Windows 11 by the end of the year.
