US Election Day: Do Americans Choose Trump or Biden as New President?

68

After months of campaigning, today is finally the day: the Americans elect their new president “Trump or Biden”.

Due to the exceptional circumstances this year, there are two big question marks: Who will be the new president and when will we be sure of this?

In “normal” election years, exit polls are distributed relatively quickly, and it is clear on election day who the winner is (if the result is not too narrow).

This year, however, more Americans than ever voted by letter (nearly 100 million), partly to avoid having to stand in long lines at polling stations during the corona pandemic.

Chances are it will take some time for those ballots to arrive, and most states have also decided to count votes that come later.

Ohio, for example, gives ballots an extra 10 days to reach the site.
