Healthcare technology company Philips buys the American BioTelemetry. Philips pays $ 2.8 billion for the company.

BioTelemetry makes devices and provides services to monitor the health of heart patients remotely.

Last year, BioTelemetry generated $ 439 million in revenue. The company monitors over 1 million heart patients annually with its remotely connected heart rate monitors, data analytics using artificial intelligence and other services.

Philips thinks that the American company can immediately generate more turnover and profit next year.

In the United States, in particular, Philips expects to achieve significant cost benefits. The acquisition is likely to be completed in the first quarter of next year.

BioTelemetry and its 1,900 employees become part of the Philips Connected Care business.
