More than a hundred people were killed in an attack on the village of Ogossagou in the heart of Mali. The authorities expect the death toll to rise.

It is one of the bloodiest attacks in an area that is increasingly suffering from ethnic and jihadist violence.

The village was surrounded by armed men dressed as the traditional Donzo warriors who then carried out the attack.

According to local authorities, the village has been destroyed. The victims are members of the Fulani, an Islamic nomadic people.

A villager says that the attack is the answer to an attack last week, in which 23 soldiers were killed and claimed by al-Qaeda.

The slaughter takes place precisely at the time Mali is visited by a delegation from the UN Security Council to find a solution to the many civilian deaths in the country.
