Cybercrime is on the rise. In the first six months of 2022, almost 50,087 cybercrimes were counted in our country. Between 2012 and 2021, the number of cybercrimes has almost tripled.

This is evident from crime statistics from the federal police published just before the end of the year. If the trend of the first semester of 2022 continues, the federal police will have registered more than 100,000 cybercrime offences for the first time last year.

In 2021, a total of 92,763 cybercrimes were registered. That is almost three times more than in 2012.

The most common offences are computer fraud (23,858) and internet fraud (19,489). In concrete terms, this concerns, for example, payment card fraud (6,078) and phishing (4,505). In particular, phishing, a form of internet fraud in which login details, credit card information, pin codes or other personal data are stolen using false messages and fake websites, is on the rise.

Although in the whole of 2012, there were still 212 facts, in 2021, there were already 8,396. Other common cyber crimes are cyber harassment (4,141), hacking (2,626) and sex crimes such as dissemination of nude images, grooming, child pornography and cyber lure (more than 600 offences).
