Jacob Rees-Mogg Seems to Make a Turn on Brexit Agreement. Jacob Rees-Mogg, the stiff ‘hard brexiteer’ of the British Conservative Party, states in a podcast that he could now vote for the Brexit agreement that Prime Minister Theresa May negotiated with the European Union.
He seems to be making a stunning turn with that because Rees-Mogg belongs to the camp of the hardliners who prefer a “no deal” scenario to the May agreement.
On Monday evening, a majority of British MPs decided that they would be allowed to vote tomorrow on many alternatives to the divorce agreement.
Among other things, they will be able to express their preference for a British-European customs union and the organisation of a second referendum.
Prime Minister May said on Monday that she is “sceptical” about this state of affairs. Indeed, it is not guaranteed that one of the alternatives that will be voted on will effectively achieve a majority.
Today, May continues her efforts to find a majority for her agreement, even though this has already been convincingly rejected twice.
