Death Toll After Earthquake in Japan Rises to 62

More than two months after the earthquakes in the Turkish-Syrian border area, the death toll has risen again. The Turkish Interior Minister said this on Friday.

In Turkey, a total of 50,500 people are said to have lost their lives due to the disaster, a hundred more than in the previous figures.

Recent counts show even more earthquake-related deaths than previously reported. At the beginning of April, there were still 50,399 fatalities. The identities of about a thousand deaths remain unknown.

3.7 million Turks have left the affected area, and more than 300,000 buildings have been moderate to heavily damaged. As a result, the part will have to be demolished, according to Turkish Minister Suleyman Soylu.
