British Media: Easyjet Cancels 1700 Summer Flights via London Gatwick

Airline easyJet has cancelled 1,700 flights to and from London Gatwick Airport. These are flights in July, August and September. Various British media, including The Sun and Daily Mail, report this.

They write that 180,000 passengers are affected, although an alternative flight has now been arranged for most of them.

EasyJet informs the media that this would concern 95 percent of the passengers affected. 9000 of them do not yet have a replacement flight. The cause would be the “unprecedented” delays at air traffic control. Strikes by air traffic controllers are also lurking. However, insiders tell The Independent that easyJet would have insufficient pilots to operate the summer schedule.

An easyJet spokesperson told The Sun that these are “preventive adjustments”. “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
