Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his confidence that Ukraine will win Russia’s war in a video honouring the victory over Nazi Germany. “We won then, and we will win now.”

“On Victory Day, we will fight for another victory,” Zelenski said. “The road there is difficult, but we do not doubt that we will win.” The video, in which the president walks in Kyiv, was released before Moscow’s annual major military victory parade.

Zelensky also stated that Ukraine would “soon” have two victory days and Russian President Vladimir Putin “none more”. He went on to say that Ukrainians are free people who have fought several times in the past to protect their country and will continue to fight for themselves.

“We are proud of our ancestors who, along with other nations in the anti-Hitler coalition, defeated Nazism. And we will not let anyone annex this victory, and we will not allow it to be usurped.” Zelensky added that “there is no intruder who can rule over our free people”.
