President Donald Trump has announced that the US government is negotiating with four potential buyers for the US branch of the Chinese-origin video app TikTok.
He said a deal could happen soon. Trump did not name potential buyers. “All four are good,” the president said. On Jan. 20, he gave Chinese TikTok owner ByteDance a 75-day extension to sell its U.S. operations.
If the sale does not occur, the very popular platform will be banned in the US. A law on this was voted last year with support from Democrats and Republicans. Trump indicated that further delay was still possible.
