Microsoft Prohibits Crypto Mining in Azure Cloud

Microsoft has officially banned crypto mining within its Azure cloud services under the Universal Online Services License Terms.

 

According to Microsoft, this is an amended acceptable use policy to clarify that mining cryptocurrency is prohibited without prior approval from Microsoft.

Microsoft further reports that written approval is required for those who want to use the company’s services for crypto mining. It is clarified that ‘neither the customer nor those who have access to an online service through the customer’ may use mining.

A particular website lists important actions that partners must take to secure the partner ecosystem, including against crypto mining.
