Madonna to Stage Malawi Fundraiser for Her 60th Birthday. Madonna blows sixty candles on August 16 and has already made known what she wants for her birthday: money.
Not for themselves, but for underprivileged children in Malawi. The Queen of Pop has created a unique fundraising campaign for its charitable organisation Raising Malawi.
“I have a strong desire to offer a loving family to vulnerable children,” Madonna explains on her Facebook page. She wants to connect with her fans, her “worldwide family”, with the “beautiful country” Malawi “and the children who need our help the most”. “I can not think of a better present.”
Since Monday can be donated via Facebook until the end of August. One hundred percent of the donated money goes to the Home Of Hope orphanage, which welcomes children in the Malawian countryside.
“Every dollar that is gathered goes directly to meals, education, clothing and healthcare,” promises Madonna, who adopted four children from Malawi and has been raising money for the African country for years.
“Together with my friends, fans and supporters, I want to change the lives of Malawian children, and I want them to know that they are loved, that they are cherished and that they are protected.”
