The Dow Jones index was 0.2 percent higher at 42,409 points shortly after the market opened. The broad S&P 500 index also rose 0.2 percent to 5,933 points, and the tech benchmark Nasdaq rose 0.3 percent to 19,247 points.
On Tuesday, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq gained more than 2 percent, and the Dow gained 1.8 percent. The S&P 500 is still about 4 percent below its record level of February this year.
