Google Adds New AI Features to Its Search Engine

Google has unveiled several new applications in artificial intelligence. One is AI Mode, a special tab in the search engine where users can ask follow-up questions to obtain the desired search result.

In the new AI Mode, questions are broken down into parts that the software looks for separately. That way, you get more relevant answers, said Google manager Liz Reid. For example, if you’re looking for an apartment or tickets to an event, the AI assistant should be able to find the best options. Users can personalise the search experience by giving the AI applications access to Google apps like Gmail.

AI Mode is rolling out first in the United States for American users. Google hopes the new features will help keep its search engine relevant as more people turn to AI tools like ChatGPT for searches. However, Google still has about 90 percent of the search market.

Another new feature concerns Google Meet, Google’s video communication service. With it, you can now converse with people who speak different languages. These conversations are translated almost instantly into the desired language, while preserving the tone of voice, intonation and expression. ‘The result is a conversation that feels authentic and natural’, says Google.

The translation feature will initially be available only in English and Spanish to those with a special AI subscription. The tech giant promises that more languages will be available in the coming weeks.
