Experts expect global inflation to fall in the coming years but will nevertheless remain at a high level.

A survey by the German ifo institute and a Swiss research institute among 1,537 experts from 133 countries shows that they assume global inflation to be 7.1 percent this year and 5.8 percent in 2024 to drop to 4.5 percent in 2026, per cent.

This means that the inflation outlook for this year is slightly more optimistic than in a previous survey.

Regions where inflation would be the highest in 2023, are South Asia (23 percent), South America (25 percent), North Africa (32 percent) and East Africa (35 percent).

Inflation is expected to be below the median in Western Europe (5.4 percent), North America (5.2 percent) and Southeast Asia (5.3 percent).
