China Denies Invitation to European Leaders

China denies inviting European leaders to meet with President Xi Jinping in Beijing in November, the South China Morning Post reported.

“Fake news,” said a Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman in the Chinese capital.

The newspaper had written citing sources that Xi had invited French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to visit at the end of the year.

It would be the first time for Western European leaders after a hiatus due to the corona measures.
