British Nurse Arrested for the Murder of Eight Babies. A British nurse has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of eight babies at a hospital in Chester.
The woman is also suspected of attempting to murder six babies, reports the police.
The study of the woman, who worked in the infant care department, was started in May. The incidents occurred between March 2015 and July 2016.
According to investigator Paul Hughes, who is leading the investigation, research is being conducted into the deaths of 17 babies and multiple incidents without fatal consequences. He called the arrest of the woman ‘an important step forward’.
The authorities describe the suspect as a ‘healthcare professional’, without going into further detail. Hughes said the research “has a huge impact on all families, employees and patients at the hospital.”
He stated that specialised agents support the parents of the babies.
