Japanese Twitter Killer Wants to Get Married for Execution
A Japanese man who has been sentenced to death for the murder of nine people accepts that but wants to get married before the sentence is executed.
“I want to find an ordinary girl while I am in prison,” said the 30-year-old. Takahiro Shiraishi, known as the ‘Twitter killer’. Through this social medium, he made contact with young people who contemplated suicide and then killed them.
Shiraishi has admitted the murders, but his lawyers wanted to appeal the death sentence. The victims, all but one women, had already indicated on social media that they were suicidal and therefore wanted to die, was the argument.
Japan has a relatively high number of suicides per year, approximately 20,000.
Shiraishi also argued that he helped the women, but refrains from further legal action. He now calls the death sentence obvious.
Police found nine badly battered bodies in Shiraishi’s apartment, along with numerous bones and other body parts, including in the freezer and cooler bags. Executions in Japan are carried out by hanging.
