Four Out of Ten PCs can’t Upgrade to Windows 11. Many of today’s PCs do not meet Microsoft’s operating system’s hardware requirements.

About a year after Windows 11 came out, it is still impossible for almost 43% of PCs to install the operating system. That says the maker of IT management software Lansweeper, after examining millions of studied systems. This is because windows 11 comes with some hefty hardware requirements, including a processor with a recent TPU chip.

Such a TPU contains a specific microcontroller to protect hardware; without that chip, it is difficult for users to install Windows 11 on a system.

According to Lansweeper, the required hardware was not present in 42.76% of the 27 million PCs the company tested. Last year, more than 57% of PCs failed a similar test. Of the computers that failed the test this year, 71.5% did not have the required working memory (RAM), and 14.66% did not have the correct TPM chip.
