TikTok is Partnering to Protect Underage Users
Videos app TikTok wants to do more to protect underage users better. The company says that it has joined a unique alliance of the European Commission for this purpose.
In a statement, TikTok said it is looking forward to working with the European Commission and industry partners to “make a safer Internet for the youngest members of the TikTok community.”
The app is mainly popular among young users. TikTok has previously taken measures to protect underage users of the app. For example, users under the age of sixteen can’t send private messages.
The alliance is an initiative designed to improve the online environment for children and young people.
Following an invitation from the European Commission to participate in a joint effort, leading ICT and media companies, NGOs and UNICEF officially launched the alliance on Safer Internet Day 2017.
