Price fighter easyJet has confidence in next summer. The British airline has almost as many flight tickets available for the holiday period as before the corona crisis in 2019.

In addition, the number of bookings in the last ten weeks was consistently above the level of 2019. EasyJet, one of the larger users of Schiphol, also benefited from sliding with the capacity to offer enough seats, especially on busy routes.

Over the first six months of the broken financial year that runs to September, the group still recorded a loss of 557 million pounds (657 million euros), partly due to the impact of the corona crisis. That was a deficit of 701 million pounds a year earlier.

Furthermore, easyJet saw passengers grow by 470 percent to 23.4 million in the measurement period. As a result, capacity increased by 373 percent. In concrete terms, this means that aeroplanes were usually fuller. At just under 1.5 billion pounds, the total turnover was more than five times higher than a year earlier. In addition to the extra capacity, EasyJet also sold more ancillary products. For example, the company noticed a strong demand for package holidays in the United Kingdom.

The airline says it remains confident in a strong recovery of aviation. CEO Johan Lundgren explains that there is a catch-up demand for travel. This, coupled with the lifting of travel restrictions, will ensure continued recovery. In addition, easyJet has moved 1.5 million seats to the best-performing markets. In the past Easter holidays, easyJet was at 90 percent in terms of occupancy.
