President Trump is A Scoop on Top of Chinese Trade Rehabilitation. The American government is pushing the trade war with China even further.
The Trump government is considering introducing import duties of 25 percent for Chinese goods worth a total of 200 billion dollars, government officials have confirmed. Previously, President Donald Trump threatened with import duties of 10 percent on the same amount of products.
The levies may already start next month. These import taxes would apply to products ranging from food to car tires, bicycles and cosmetics.
There were rumours about the plans before. China then said that “countermeasures are inevitable” if the American threat becomes a reality. “The pressure and blackmail from the United States will not affect,” the Foreign Office said.
The two economic superpowers seemed to be working towards a resumption of official negotiations on their trade policy earlier this week. The American finance minister Steven Mnuchin and the Chinese deputy prime minister Liu He would have had informal talks about this.
Washington is also preparing for the introduction of new charges of $ 16 billion of Chinese goods, as an extension of a $ 34 billion levy package of products that came into force at the beginning of July.
