Floods and Landslides: Monsoon Rains Cost 47 Lives in Nepal. Floods and landslides over the past three days have resulted in the death of 47 people in Nepal. Also, there are dozens of people injured and missing.

 

Ever since Thursday monsoon rains have been lashing Nepal, this means that large tracts of land are flooded.

Houses have been flooded, bridges have collapsed, and roads have disappeared due to the rising water. That reports the Reuters news agency.

According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, there are 47 confirmed deaths. Besides, another 28 people were injured and 29 missing.

Television images show how in some places the water rises above the roofs of houses. Rescue workers are busy getting people out of their homes.

The monsoon rains also keep ugly at home in neighbouring India. At least 35 people would have died in the north and east of the country.
