Turkey has ordered state-owned Botas to reopen the oil terminal near the city of Ceyhan. Bloomberg reports this based on an official with knowledge of the matter.
However, the terminal was shut down on Monday due to the severe earthquakes in the country’s southeast.
The oil terminal in Ceyhan, between Adana and Gaziantep, was closed Monday morning as a precaution. But now the checks on the infrastructure have been completed, and the supply and export of oil in the Turkish city can start again.
The terminal receives oil from Kirkuk, Iraq. Just like the oil terminal, the pipelines have also remained intact during the earthquakes. As a result, the port of Ceyhan exported 1 million barrels of oil per day in January.
More than 5,000 people have been killed in the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
