Norway has decided to expel fifteen Russians from the country. According to the government, they posed as employees of the Russian embassy in Oslo, while in reality, they worked for Russian intelligence services in the northern European country.

The Russians have been followed for some time and must leave soon. The decision was taken because of the “changed security situation in Europe”, according to the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.

It also reports that Russia poses the biggest intelligence threat to Norway, and that threat is growing.

According to Defense Minister Anniken Huitfeldt, the expulsion is an “important step in countering and limiting the level of Russian intelligence activities in Norway and thus also in protecting our national interests”.

The minister emphasizes that Norway wants to maintain diplomatic ties with Russia but does not accept the abuse of diplomatic missions.
