Kyiv Partly Without Power and Water After Russian Attacks

Parts of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv are without electricity and water as a result of new Russian attacks, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reports. 350,000 households have been affected by power outages, and 80 percent of consumers are without water.

But other cities have also been shelled. According to the Ukrainian army, the Russians have fired at least 50 cruise missiles. Most could be captured. In Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, Mayor Ihor Terekhov says “critical infrastructure” has been hit.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba reacted furiously to the latest attacks 250 days after the Russian invasion. “Instead of fighting on the battlefield, Russia is fighting civilians. So don’t justify these attacks by calling them a reaction.

Russia is doing this because it still has the missiles and the will to kill Ukrainians,” he tweeted. Kyiv accuses Moscow of “energy terror” against the population.

Russia has recently stepped up its missile and drone strikes on the neighbouring country after Moscow accused the Ukrainian government of a fatal explosion at the Crimean Bridge. As a result, Ukraine’s energy supply has often been targeted.
