The United States is sending a new package of weapons to Ukraine. With an estimated value of approximately $3 billion, it will be the largest package since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
A US government official has confirmed this. Washington is expected to make it official on Wednesday on Ukraine’s Independence Day.
Ukraine became independent on August 24, 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union. As a result, relations between Moscow and Kyiv have been good for a long time. Still, the impeachment of a pro-Russian president in Kyiv in 2014 sparked an uprising in mostly Russia-oriented Ukrainian regions, and the two have been at war ever since.
Russia invaded Ukraine six months ago. The battle focuses on the east and south, where the front is currently little in motion.
