Stamps with QR Code: British Post Connects Letter and Internet

In Great Britain, it is now possible to send internet videos by post. The Royal Mail has added QR codes to some stamps to transmit videos, messages and other information.

According to commercial manager Nick Landon, the new stamp comes after a period of successful testing. “The introduction of QR codes on our stamps allows us to connect a physical letter to the digital world and opens up possibilities for a range of innovative services,” he said.

First up, senders and recipients will be able to watch an exclusive video from the hit cartoon series Shaun the Sheep as they scan the code with a Royal Mail app. Additional videos will be available during the year. Personal messages are also possible.

The code is in the same colour as the stamp and separated from it by a counterfeit perforation.
