Update Adobe Lightroom Removes User Photos
An incorrect update of Adobe Lightroom for iPhone and iPad ensures that several users have permanently lost their edited photos.
This is an update of the Lightroom app for iPhone and iPad. Anyone there who updated to version 5.4 risks losing both photos and unsynchronized presets.
According to photography site Petapixel, the problem surfaced a few days ago when users on forums told their stories about missing photos, presets and watermarks.
In the meantime, Adobe confirms an error in the app update for the data disappearance. The company quickly followed up the update with version 5.4.1, which does not delete any data, but the deleted data cannot be recovered.
“Some customers who have updated to Lightroom 5.4.0 on iPhone and iPad may be missing photos and presets.
This affects Lightroom mobile customers without an Adobe cloud subscription. It also affects Lightroom cloud customers with photos and presets not yet synced to the cloud. ” Adobe said in a statement.
It is not identified how many users have been affected by the problem. However, the incident is limited to the iPad and iOS. Lightroom for Android, Windows or macOS had no issues. Adobe apologizes for deleting the data.
