Uber Buys British Taxi Company Autocab
Uber acquires Autocab, a company that offers car ride-booking and dispatching software. However, the added value seems to lie mainly in the company’s marketplace.
Autocab has been in existence for thirty years and is active in twenty countries.
The company develops software to book taxi rides and arrange to dispatch. In addition, with iGo it has a marketplace in various countries that private transport companies can join.
Uber initially plans to link iGo with its own app, specifically in markets where the company is not active (or inactive).
“Autocab has successfully partnered with taxi companies and private drivers worldwide for over 30 years, and Uber can learn a lot from their experience,” Uber said in a statement.
It is not known how much Uber will pay for the acquisition.
