US President Donald Trump has asked the Supreme Court to annul the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
The law is one of the most important political legacies of former President Barack Obama.
“No further analysis is needed,” said Noel Francisco, the US government attorney.
According to him, what is left of the law cannot remain valid after a judge has declared compulsory health insurance unconstitutional in the law.
The other legally tricky points are the obligation for insurers to provide insurance to people, and how collective premiums are set.
Submitting the case to the Supreme Court is Trump’s final attempt to get rid of Republican-denounced health insurance law.
Millions of Americans lose their health insurance when the Affordable Care Act expires.
