The United States and China will soon be talking about their trade relations. A spokesman for the Chinese trade ministry said this.
An exact date has not been stated, but the trade talks are expected to take place “soon”.
Agreements made at the end of last week were postponed. Then it was expected that US trade envoy Robert Lighthizer, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Liu He would talk to each other about the trade relationship between them.
It was precisely six months ago on Saturday that the trade agreement between the two superpowers, signed in January, came into effect.
That deal partially ended the dragging Sino-American trade war. But there were still many issues of disagreement between Washington and Beijing. That is why there actually had to be further negotiation about follow-up deals.
However, mutual tensions have risen again. President Donald Trump has recently accused China of regularly withholding information about the coronavirus.
The superpowers are also in conflict over the situation in Hong Kong and possible espionage by tech companies such as Huawei and TikTok.
