The United Arab Emirates has officially ended its boycott against Israel. Among other things, this makes trade possible between the two countries.
The President of the UAE and Emir of Abu Dhabi, Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, decreed this Saturday.
He wants to “promote bilateral cooperation” on the way to normal relations between Israel and the emirates.
The UAE has recently established diplomatic relations. In the Arab world, only Egypt and Jordan previously had diplomatic ties with Israel, recognizing Israel.
Many other Arab countries demand that there be a Palestinian state first and that Israel return the occupied territories, including Arab East Jerusalem, for that purpose.
The UAE has dropped that line.
