Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been arrested on suspicion of rape, the Norwegian police announced in a press release on Tuesday. Høiby is linked to a series of violent incidents.
According to a police statement, he is suspected of “having sexual contact with a person who was unconscious or otherwise unable to resist the act.” Norwegian media reports that Høiby was arrested Monday at 11:12 p.m. while sitting in a car. It is said to have been rape without intercourse. Also, according to Norwegian media, the victim is a young woman in her twenties.
This is not the first time that Høiby has been arrested. He is linked to several violent incidents. He was previously suspected of physically and psychologically abusing three ex-partners. In early August, he was arrested for allegedly attacking his then-girlfriend. He confessed to the facts and stated that he had been under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. This charge has since been expanded to include “abuse”. Høiby is also suspected of having threatened a man with death online.
Høiby has been transferred to a detention centre in Greenland, a district in central Oslo. The Royal Family Security Service has said it is aware of the arrest. Høiby’s lawyer has not yet commented.
