Shazam Music App is Now Officially Part of Apple and Will be Ad-Free

The music recognition app Shazam will soon be advert-free for all users. Apple announced that the company has taken over the app on Monday.

 

Shazam users can use the microphone of their smartphone to recognise a song. The app is free to download, but so far made use of advertisements as a source of income. The company also offers a paid version.

In December 2017, Apple announced that it wanted to take over Shazam. Reportedly, the company has paid $ 400 million for it, although this amount has not been confirmed.

After an investigation, earlier this month that the deal may continue because the takeover of Shazam does not have any adverse effects on competition.
