Killed by Shooting in Texas Shopping Centre, Several People Arrested. In El Paso (Texas) a shooter has been spotted in a Walmart. The police are asking to stay away from the Cielo Vista Mall.
The local police say that there are several deaths. According to the local channel KTSM, there are 18 fatalities. That has not yet been confirmed. The acute danger would have passed.
According to Mayor Dee Margo, several arrests have been made. Shots have been fired in various places, police say. Especially in Walmart, but also beyond. It is not yet known how many fatalities there are.
TV channel NBC reports that the local university hospital has received 10 seriously injured people. El Paso police report that there are “multiple reports” about multiple shooters, but there is still no certainty about this.
KTSM reports based on police sources that the danger has since disappeared. People still have to stay at a distance. In a school near the shopping centre, a place has been set up where survivors and family can find each other.
The police are still calling on people to stay away from the mall. A car has just been surrounded, possibly because it would belong to a suspect.

A video that local media share on Twitter shows how visitors to the mall are evacuated. They go outside under the watchful eye of armed agents. The images show that it is a large shopping centre. El Paso is a city with 680,000 residents in western Texas, near the border with Mexico.
