Google Would be Working on its Own Version of AirTags
Developers have found references in Google’s menus to a smart tracker in the style of Apple’s AirTags or Samsung’s SmartTags.
The tracker would be codenamed Grogu and be developed by the hardware team that is also responsible for the Nest smart thermostat, for example, according to various sources.
The tracker would also have an internal speaker and support for Bluetooth Low Energy and Ultra Wide Band, writes researcher Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter.
The devices initially seem comparable to other tracking systems, such as the Apple AirTags. However, these are small devices with a location system that you link to your phone.
You can then hang those tags on your keys or luggage, for example, to find them faster. However, things were also used to stalk people.
