Garbine Muguruza beat Venus Williams and wins Wimbledon. Garbine Muguruza won the Wimbledon grand slam tournament for the first time. The 23-year-old defeated on the holy grass in London five-fold winner Venus Williams with 7-5, 6-0.
Muguruza was also in the final of Wimbledon in 2015 but lost to Serena Williams. The two-year-old sister of Venus did not attend this edition because of Serena Williams pregnancy.
This time, the number fourteen of the placement list won a Williams. The 37-year-old American left unexpected opportunities in the first set and then hit.
With the win, Muguruza shoots at Williams sisters as Wimbledon’s winner. Muguruza was after 1994 when Conchita Martinez won the grassroots, the second Spanish champion at Wimbledon.
