A scarf on catwalk?
Modeling agency IMG, which represents big names like Gigi Hadid, the Somali-American Muslim woman Halima Aden has a contract. And, indeed, she wears a head-scarf.
She walked ahead and beamed supermodel and Muslim Halima Aden could be admired today at the FasionWeek in the Italian Milan. With a head-scarf, in a light beige color.
It is striking that IMG, one of the world’s largest modeling, a model with headscarf gives a contract. It shows that the fashion world is changing.
“I’m glad it’s happening,” says Rinke Tjepkema, deputy editor of fashion magazine Vogue.
“Finally! And actually the head-scarf was not even the first thing I noticed. I especially noticed how beautiful Halima looked like.”
Headscarves penetrate slowly into the fashion world. Last year there were first head scarves to be admired on the catwalk during New York Fashion Week. “The fashion world should reflect the spirit,” says Tjepkema. “And she has it failed too long.”
