China is angry with the United States for accusing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo (Foreign Affairs) that China was late in reporting its coronavirus outbreak.
“This false information about China is not true,” said a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
“I hear a lot of gossip about China hiding something, that’s not true,” said the spokesman. “The Chinese government was transparent and quickly shared all data.”
According to Pompeo, China was trying to keep secret how dangerous the virus was.
“We are convinced that the Chinese Communist Party did not report the outbreak of the new coronavirus to the World Health Organization in time.”
“Some people want to be the world’s policeman, but this is not the era of gunboat diplomacy or the era when China was a semi-colonial society,” said the Chinese spokesman. “These people are still living in the past, and they think they can bully China, they can bully the world.
China is not an enemy of the United States, but if they see it that way, they have the wrong one in front of them.”
