Amazon Loses Case About Personnel Safety in France

Internet merchant Amazon has lost an appeal to a French court over worker safety against the coronavirus.

Amazon would not do enough to protect personnel against the disease. The company then stopped its deliveries in France.

Last week, a French court ruled that Amazon can only sell essential products such as food and cleaning products.

The American company must also do more for personnel safety. Amazon can be fined $ 1 million for every day of security delay.

If a delivery does not meet the requirements, Amazon can at least be fined 100,000 euros.

In response to last week’s verdict, Amazon completely shut down operations in France.

Amazon has six distribution centres in the country. The company says it has implemented safety measures for employees.
