Bill Gates: AI as ChatGPT can Rearrange Tech Giants Position
Artificial intelligence in chatbots such as ChatGPT will significantly impact the tech sector. Among other things, the positions of tech giants such as Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft in the market can be rearranged by the rise of AI technology.
Bill Gates, founder and former CEO of Microsoft, says this in a recent interview for the podcast In Good Company by Nicolai Tangen, CEO of the investment fund Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund. In the podcast, Gates says he is impressed by AI technology that can read and write.
However, he acknowledges that there is still a lot of work to be done to make the AI models more accurate. However, according to Gates, it is clear that chatbots are an important development in many industries, where it helps people work more efficiently and productively.
Gates also addresses the concerns about the rise of AI-based chatbots such as ChatGPT. “Something new rarely emerges that doesn’t have a downside,” Gates said. He points, among other things, to concerns about students with a chatbot writing their drafts and arguments. Nevertheless, gates expect the benefit to be a net positive, despite caution in using the technology.
When it comes to parties benefiting from the development, Gates sees no clear winner. Instead, he points to Google, which has long dominated the search engine market. However, gates expect Google’s share of the search market to decline because Microsoft has been able to respond very quickly to the development.
The company previously partnered with ChatGPT developer OpenAI and incorporates its AI technology into its search engine Bing, among other things.
