Apple Must Pay Half A Billion Dollars in Damages for Patent Infringement
A Texas court ordered Apple to pay $ 500 million in damages to PanOptis. The judge found it proven that the tech giant has infringed on that company’s 4G patents.
PanOptis, a company specializing in patent usage licenses, went to court against Apple in February 2019.
It accused the iPhone manufacturer of refusing to pay commissions for specific 4G technology in its devices.
“The complainants have repeatedly tried to negotiate with Apple to find an agreement for the patents that Apple infringes,” it said in the initial complaint.
Negotiations then broke down because Apple refused to pay the license fees.
According to specialized US media, Apple would appeal the verdict.
