Two corona infections have also been detected in Denmark with the Omicron variant. The health institute SSI confirmed this on Sunday after two suspicious cases were examined a day earlier.
The passengers concerned had travelled by plane from South Africa to Denmark and are in quarantine.
Denmark is the seventh country in Europe where the new variant, which may be highly contagious, has been identified. The variant has also been discovered in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom.
Most infections with the corona variant have been established in South Africa. The variant has also been found in Botswana and in some travellers who arrived from southern Africa in Hong Kong, Israel and Australia.
