British Royals Celebrate Queen Elizabeth Birthday. Markle is officially on maternity leave, but she is on the “trooping the colour”, the official celebration of the Queen’s birthday.
Due to the birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on 6 May, Markle cannot be seen in public for a few months because she is on maternity leave.
However, she makes an exception for the Queen’s birthday. The official celebrations will take place on Saturday, the “Trooping the Color”. According to CNN, baby Archie will not be present.
The Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, will not be there either. He retired in 2017 and will turn 98 on Monday.
Catherine, Prince William’s wife, was also present at the trooping the colour during her maternity leave.
In addition to the royal family, more than 200 horses, 400 musicians and 1,400 officers will participate in the ceremonies on Saturday.
The parade goes from Buckingham Palace to the Mall and eventually the House Guard’s Parade in Whitehall.
The members of the royal family follow in horse and carriage. The Queen used to ride a horse, but in recent years she has been riding in an open coach.
Once arrived at the palace, the royal family comes together on the balcony to watch the aircraft of the Royal Air Force pass by.
